RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech head coach Josh Taylor has announced the addition of Airline High School infielder Jina Baffuto who signed a national letter of intent to join the Lady Techster program.
           
"Jina is an athletic middle infielder who is athletic enough to play multiple positions all over the field," said Taylor. "She has gap to gap pop and is as competitive as they come and will help build a championship culture at Tech. We are excited to welcome Jina into our Tech family."
           
Baffuto has lettered the past three years at Airline High School where she helped lead the program to the Class 5A state title game in 2021 and the state semifinals in 2019. She batted .489 with 44 hits, 37 runs and 23 RBI as a junior.
         
"It's always been my goal to play softball for Louisiana Tech. The coaching staff is amazing and the new facility is state-of-the-art. LA Tech offers the academic programs I'm looking for and being a Bulldog runs in my family."

Baffuto was named first team all-district the past three years and was a first team all-state and all-city honoree as a junior. She is part of the Texas Bombers travel ball organization.

She joins a 2022 recruiting class that includes infielder Kaylee Grealy (Fresno, Calif./Clovis North HS), catcher Ella Rose Wright (Lee's Summit, Missouri/Lee's Summit North HS), utility Paris Endris (Airline HS/Bossier City, La.), pitcher Allie Floyd (Boling HS/East Bernard, Texas) and utility Alannah Rogers (Willow Canyon HS/Surprise, Arizona).
