Junior Claims Multiple Player of the Week Honors

RUSTON – After helping Louisiana Tech claim two victories this past week, Kenneth Lofton, Jr. was named Conference USA and LSWA Player of the Week in announcements made on Monday.

Junior, the second-year freshman who was named to the Naismith Trophy and Karl Malone Award watch list, averaged 23.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in the Bulldogs win over SWAC preseason favorite Texas Southern and on the road at Santa Clara who came in with victories over Stanford, Nevada and TCU.

The power forward had 15 points and seven rebounds against the Tigers before having to leave the game with 15 minutes left due to injury.  The Bulldogs won that game, 87-60.

Despite being a game-time decision to play at Santa Clara, the Port Arthur, Texas native went for 31 points and 14 rebounds, becoming the only Division I player this season with two 30-point, 10-rebound performances.

With the game tied at 66-66 and about 2:30 to go, Junior scored LA Tech's next eight points to help seal the 78-75 road win.

This is the second straight week he has earned the C-USA Player of the Week award, marking the first Bulldog to accomplish this since Alex Hamilton in 2016.  It is his first ever Louisiana Player of the Week honor.

Junior currently ranks third in C-USA in points per game (19.4) and first in rebounds per game (11.1).

LA Tech returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 11 to face rival UL-Lafayette.  The matchup is set for 11 a.m. inside the Thomas Assembly Center on Karl Malone Court and will be nationally-televised on ESPNU.
