RUSTON – For a second straight week and the fifth time this season, Louisiana Tech's
Kenneth Lofton, Jr. was voted as the Conference USA Freshman of the Week in an announcement made by the league office on Monday.

The freshman forward helped LA Tech sweep Southern Miss this past week, winning 76-63 in Hattiesburg and 65-62 in Ruston. He averaged 12.0 points per game while shooting 84.6 percent from the field, missing just one field goal attempt in each victory.

On Thursday at USM, the Port Arthur, Texas native tallied 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting to go along with four rebounds, two steals and one block. Then on Saturday against the Golden Eagles, he accounted for 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting, extending his streak of double-digit scoring games to five, plus five boards.Â

The Bulldogs have now won 13 of the last 15 meetings against the Golden Eagles as well as extending their home winning streak in the series to 16 (third longest active home winning streak for LA Tech). Â

The five Freshman of the Week honors is the most of any player in C-USA this season and is tied for the fifth most of any player in the league since LA Tech joined the conference in 2013-14.Â
