RUSTON – Two days after picking up their first win of the spring slate, the Louisiana Tech soccer team will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Jackson, Mississippi to face Belhaven at 6 p.m. at Belhaven Bowl Stadium.
Â
LA Tech (3-2) is coming off a 1-0 victory at Texas Woman's this past Sunday. The Lady Techsters outshot the Pioneers, 14-4, and generated six corner kicks.Â
Â
The lone strike produced by the team came off the left foot of senior
Amber Posthauer who notched her team-leading second goal of the 2020-21 season, a score that was enough for LA Tech to prevail.Â
Â
After playing the full 45 minutes in the second half of the Northwestern State match,
Katie Cook got the start in net for the Lady Techsters. Thanks to the team controlling much of the possession while limiting TWU's scoring opportunities, the sophomore recorded her second career win.
Â
Of the five total matches combining fall and spring, four Lady Techsters have started all five of them –
Tomoyo Kuroyanagi,
Sophie Fijneman,
Elizabeth Doll and
Josie Studer.
Â
LA Tech has totaled six goals while allowing only five and have produced nine more shots than their opponents.Â
Â
Belhaven (0-0) will be playing its first match of the season. The Blazers did scrimmage Mississippi College a week ago, a match that ended in a 1-1 tie.Â
Â
A member of the American Southwest Conference, Belhaven recorded a 10-8-2 in 2019.
