MONTGOMERY, Texas – Louisiana Tech senior golfer
Mac Murphy led Louisiana Tech with a two-under 142 after the first two rounds of the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational on Monday.

M. Murphy finished each round with a one-under 71 and carded a team-best eight birdies.

Sam Murphy had an eagle in round one while sophomore
Hunter Battles had one in round two.

All six LA Tech golfers who participated in the tournament registered at least one birdie during the first two rounds.

Lake Juban +11 (79-76=155, t-52nd) and Battles +14 (83-75=158, t-64th) rounded Tech's team scoring on Monday. Freshman
Will Patrick competed individually and finished the day with a +14 (78-80=158, t-64th).

LA Tech rose three spots in the standings in the second round as Tech finished the day ranked seventh with a +24 (303-297=600).
"We made too many mistakes as a team today," head coach
Matt Terry said. "We need to clean those up and have a chance to play a solid round tomorrow. Mac played a solid two rounds and has a good chance to get a win tomorrow."

UT Arlington led the way after the first two rounds with a combined -3 (288-285=573). Sam Houston +2 (291-287=578), Louisiana-Lafayette +9 (290-295=585), Texas State +11 (297-290=587) and Wichita State +15 (292-299=591) rounded out the top five team scores on Monday.

The final round of the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational will take place on Tuesday. The round will consist of 18 holes with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT.
