RUSTON, La. – The No. 6 Louisiana Tech women's bowling team's postseason run will continue this weekend as the Lady Techsters are set to compete at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Sectionals from Friday to Sunday.
"We didn't get much time off after getting back from the national championships last week, but we had a good week of practice as we worked on a few things we needed to clean up," head coach Matt Nantais said. "This weekend is not going to be easy as only the top four teams will be moving onto the championship site in Michigan."
There are four sectional qualifiers this weekend taking place in Smyrna, Tenn., Addison, Ill., Dayton, Ohio, and Dallas, Texas. The Lady Techsters will compete in the Dallas sectional.
The top four teams from each sectional will then advance to the Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) which will be held May 5-8 at the Spectrum Entertainment Complex in Wyoming, Mich.
Friday will be the intercollegiate singles championship qualifiers where individuals will compete in six games.
Saturday and Sunday will be the team qualifiers with each team competing in 20 Baker games on each day for a total of 40 games. The total pinfall will determine which teams advance to the ITC.
LA Tech last competed as the No. 4 seed in Tech's first-ever National Collegiate Women's Bowling Championship. Earlier this season, the Lady Techsters placed second at the Southland Conference Championships.
