LAKE CHARLES, La. –
KB Briley recorded two hits and
Zoe Hicks and
Brooke Diaz each registered doubles but Louisiana Tech fell 7-1 at McNeese State Wednesday night at Cowgirl Diamond.
One night after taking No. 15 LSU down to the wire, Tech (13-16) wasn't able to find much offense against the Cowgirls (18-19), recording only five hits, including a
Tristin Court RBI bunt single in the fourth that scored the only run of the game for the Lady Techsters.
Trailing 1-0 after a solo home run by McNeese State, Briley singled and then Diaz doubled down the left field line with one out in the top of the fourth inning. Court followed with a perfectly executed suicide squeeze bunt to plate Briley and tie the game.
McNeese State countered in the bottom of the fourth inning, plating four runs with two outs to take a 5-1 advantage. The Cowgirls added two more runs in the fifth and the Lady Techsters never threatened again.
Bre Hernandez (6-5) took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks in 3.2 innings of action.
Audrey Pickett worked the final 2.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks.
