RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech coach
Josh Taylor announced today that infielder Tayler Holcroft will be joining the Lady Techster Softball program this fall.
Holcroft originally signed with Taylor at the University of Nevada coming out of Orange Lutheran High School in California, but then opted to not enroll and sat out last year. Holcroft will be considered a true freshman this season.
"Tayler is a dynamic infielder that will bring right handed pop to our lineup," said Taylor. "She has tremendous work ethic, and we couldn't be more excited to have her as a
member of the LA Tech Softball Family."
The Yorba Linda, California, native began her high school career at Claremont before transferring to Orange Lutheran where she lettered for Coach Steve Miklos. She led the Lancers to the 2019 Trinity League Championship and to the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Sectional Softball Championships.
"I chose Louisiana Tech because I wanted to play for Coach Taylor," said Holcroft. "I have known Coach Taylor for a number of years, and not only is he a great coach but he is an even better person. I also want to win and compete at the highest level. I believe Louisiana Tech gives me everything I need to do those things. The amazing facilities, people, and atmosphere of Ruston blew me away. I can't wait to get started."
Holcroft batted .304 with 14 RBI during her junior season before seeing her senior season cut short due to Covid-19. She played travel ball for Coaches Ken and Rosanne Briggs and the SoCal Athletics Briggs.
Her brother Jake plays baseball at Portland State.
Holcroft joins Sierra Sacco as the two newest Techster additions since
Josh Taylor was named head coach in June.
