Preview: LA Tech vs. East Texas Baptist

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Friday night

RUSTON – A new era of Louisiana Tech Soccer begins on Friday night when the Lady Techsters play their first match at the new Robert Mack Caruthers Field against East Texas Baptist. 
 
The 2021 season opener is set for 7 p.m., marking the first time in 1,029 days that LA Tech will play a home match on campus after its previous facility was destroyed in the spring of 2019 by a tornado. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place approximately 10 minutes prior to kickoff.
 
It will also by the first match played under the direction of new interim head coach Steve Voltz who was an assistant coach during last year's 9-7 season.

ABOUT LA TECH
The Lady Techsters return 17 letterwinners from last season's roster, anchored by Third Team All-Conference USA and All-South Region defender Josie Studer.  Fellow junior Sophie Fijneman also returns to the pitch after recording a team-high 12 points last season on four goals and four assists.
 
There are a lot of new faces as well with the addition of 18 newcomers.  There is also plenty of international flare on the squad with players from Norway, Spain, England, Sweden, Japan, the Netherlands, Australia, Ireland, Germany and Canada.
 
ABOUT EAST TEXAS BAPTIST
ETBU competes in the American South Conference in NCAA Division III women's soccer.  The Tigers registered a 6-2-2 recording during the 2020-21 season, opening the slate with six straight victories before tallying two ties and two losses down the stretch. 
 
Led by Kristin Cox, the 2021 Spring ASC Coach of the Year, the Tigers return leading point getter Brianna Mickshaw (notched nine points on three goals and three assists) as well as goalkeeper Claire Montondon (amassed 30 saves and a 1.11 goals against average).   
 
TICKETS
Season tickets are $50 while single-game tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for youth (ages 4-17).  All tickets are general admission in the new facility with stands comprised of bleacher-style seating with backs. 
 
Season and single-game tickets can be purchased now at LATechSports.com/tickets or by calling the LA Tech Ticket Office at (318) 257-3631.  Single-game tickets can also be purchased on a walk-up basis with gates opening one hour prior to the matches. 
 
STADIUM POLICIES/PARKING
Clear bags are required at all Louisiana Tech athletic events.  Fans must sit in the stands and cannot be on the field, on the grass hill or on the sidewalks.  
 
Parking is free and available alongside Stadium Blvd. as well as west of Dr. Billy Bundrick Field.  To access the field, fans will enter the main entrance of the Soccer/Softball complexes and go up the steps on the southwest corner of Robert Mack Caruthers Field.  An elevator is available for ADA fans or those who do not believe they can get up the stairs.
