First-Half Offense Leads to 4-0 Win for LA Tech

PINEVILLE, La. – Louisiana Tech did all of its goal scoring in the first half, putting four up on the board to come away with a 4-0 shutout victory over Louisiana College on Wednesday night at Wildcat Field.

LA Tech (2-1-0) scored nine of its 11 goals through the first two games in the first half.  That early offensive explosion showed itself in the in-state matchup with LC (0-1-0), netting all four within a span of 31 minutes in the first period.

Anna Loftus and Josie Studer each netted two goals in the win, going back and forth with the scoring.

Loftus netted the first goal, following up on an Emma Jones free kick that drilled the crossbar in the 13th minute.  Studer then connected for a header goal in the 25th minute off a corner kick by Sophie Fijneman.

Loftus found the back of the net again in the 30th minute off the double assist from Jones and Maci Geltmeier.  Then Studer doubled up her goal total with a chest volley from a corner kick in the 44th minute.

QUOTABLES
Interim Head Coach Steve Voltz

"It is always tough when you play a midweek game, especially with a doubleheader coming up this weekend.  We were able to get everybody a lot of playing time and take care of the result.  We used our physical advantage, scoring on a couple of set pieces, and we moved the ball really well.  At the end of the day, set pieces are a big part of college soccer."
