LA Tech Football Hosts SMU Saturday

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech football (1-1) continues its three-game homestand by hosting SMU (2-0) on Saturday, Sept. 18, at 2:30 p.m. CT, inside Joe Aillet Stadium.
 
ABOUT LA TECH (1-1)
Louisiana Tech is 1-1 so far in its 2021 campaign after losing, 35-34, to Mississippi State on the road followed by a 45-42 victory over Southeastern in Ruston. Saturday's game marks the second of a three-game homestand for the Bulldogs as Tech hosts North Texas on Saturday, Sept. 25.
 
Louisiana Tech sophomore defensive back BeeJay Williamson was named both the C-USA and LSWA Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Southeastern after registering six tackles, two interceptions, including a pick six,  and two forced fumbles. Offensively, junior running back Greg Garner accounted for three touchdowns against SLU with two on the ground and one in the air.

Head coach Skip Holtz is in his ninth season at the helm of the LA Tech football program. Holtz has led Tech to seven straight bowl games and earned his 150th career win as a FBS head coach in the 45-42 victory over Southeastern  on Sept. 11.
 
ABOUT SMU (2-0)
SMU has won both of its games in the 2021 campaign with a 56-9 win over Abilene Christian and a 35-12 victory against North Texas to earn votes in the week three USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll. Sophomore running back Ulysses Bentley IV and freshman safety Isaiah Nwokobia were named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for their performances against North Texas. Bentley IV was also named an Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award honorable mention selection.
 
Head coach Sonny Dykes is in his fourth year at the helm of SMU where he has accumulated a 24-14 overall record.
