Ruston, La. – The Louisiana Tech volleyball team returns to the court at the Houston Marriott Westchase Invitational hosted by Houston Baptist. The Lady Techsters will faceoff against Prairie View A&M on Friday at 4 p.m., before finishing the weekend with matchups against Houston Baptist on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and Lamar at 4:30 p.m.

About Louisiana Tech (2-2)
LA Tech is off to a 2-2 start, capturing back-to-back sweeps over Arkansas Pine-Bluff and Jackson State.
The Lady Techsters offense is led by sophomore
Faith Menary (39 kills, 3.55 k/s), while fellow classmates
Samantha Hicks (22 kills, 2.20 k/s) and
Morgan Smith (18 kills, 1.50 k/s) have also made major contributions to the Lady Techsters offense. Redshirt sophomore
Mallory Meers directed things offensively for LA Tech dishing out 85 assists.
On defense, freshman libero
McKenzie Johnson leads the Lady Techsters back row collecting 49 digs (4.08 d/s), while four other Lady Techsters have also recorded over 20 digs. Sophomore
Carly Doros has played above the net collecting 11 total blocks to the LA Tech.
About Prairie View A&M (0-4)
Prairie View A&M enters the weekend with a 0-4 record after falling to Lamar, University of Louisiana at Monroe, Oral Roberts and Houston Baptist to start the season.
The Lady Panthers offense is led by Tiffiney Booe (19kills, 1.73 k/s) and Kiersten Atkinson (12 kills, 1.09 k/s), while Jakarta Hope (41 assist, 3.42 a/s) directs the offense. Skyla Childs leads the Lady Panthers defense have collected 38 digs thus far.
As a team, Prairie View A&M averages 8.25 kills, 10.08 digs and 1.33 blocks per set while hitting .074 overall.
About Houston Baptist (2-2)
Houston Baptist is off to a 2-2 start to the year, recording wins over San Diego State and Prairie View A&M.
Alyssa May (38 kills, 2.71 k/s) and Sara Arroyo (38 kills, 2.71 k/s) lead the Huskies offense, with Anna Gadway (25 kills, 1.79k/s) and Ebonie Ballesteros (24 kills, 1.71 k/s) also making contributions. Ellie Wipf directs the Lady Panthers offense with 129 assists (9.21 a/s). Kaley Feris (4.36 d/s) and Tatiana Evans (3.43 d/s) anchor Houston Baptists back row defensively.

About Lamar (1-3)
Lamar opened the season with a win over Prairie View A&M before falling to Oral Roberts, UL Monroe and McNeese State.
Kaitlyn Gil (41 kills, 2.73 k/s) and Malaysia Murdock (35 kills, 2.33 k/s) top Lamar's offenses, while Paige Dugan (29 kills) and Amber Johnson (28 kills) are closely behind. Hannah Waters (75 assists, 6.25 a/s) and London Hatch (4.14 a/s) direct things for the Cardinals offense. Defensively, Lamar has five players with 27 or more digs, led by Hannah Waters (41 digs).
Lamar averages 11.80 kills, 10.80 assists, 16.67 digs and 1.07 blocks per set while hitting .171 as a team.
Series History
LA Tech leads the overall series, 5-0, over Prairie View A&M, with the first meeting dating back to the 1989 season. The two team last met on August 31, 2019, when the Lady Techsters claimed a 3-1 win at the Sam Houston State Invitational. Houston Baptist holds a 3-2 lead in a series that first started in 2008. The Huskies claimed the victory in the last meeting with a 3-0 sweep over the Lady Techsters. Lamar leads the series, 6-19, claiming a 3-2 win over LA Tech on Sept. 12, 2015 in the two teams last meeting.
