LA Tech Falls on the Road to Missouri State

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – One second-half goal made all the difference in Sunday's contest as Louisiana Tech fell 1-0 to Missouri State at Allison South Stadium.

Playing their fifth straight road match in the last 15 days, LA Tech (2-3-1) was unable to capitalize on eight corner kicks and six shot attempts in the match.  Their best opportunities came in the first half with Maci Geltmeier missing a breakaway 1v1 chance and Tomoyo Kuroyanagi misfiring on a shot at the top of the six.

Meanwhile, the defense continued to be rock solid.  However, MSU (3-2-1) took advantage of a corner kick in the 67th minute as Jenna Anderson headed in a goal off the set piece that proved to be the game winner.

QUOTABLES
Interim head coach Steve Voltz

"It is frustrating right now because we are playing good soccer.  We had two massive chances in the first half, but could not score.  We have been putting ourselves in good position to score, but we are not.  We are lacking a killer instinct in front of the goal.  Every team we have lost to has just been more opportunistic than us.  The dam needs to break at some point and hopefully it will at home next weekend."

NOTABLES
  • Maci Geltmeier and Kalli Matlock made their first starts of the season.
  • Josie Studer had the lone shot on goal for LA Tech, coming in the 70th minute to try to equalize.
  • Sydnee Korchak made her second start of the season in net, tallying two saves.
  • LA Tech's defense has allowed just six goals through the first six matches of the season.
