@LATechTFXC Set to Compete in the Samford University Multis/Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama- Louisiana Tech will venture to Birmingham, Alabama, this week for the second meet of the indoor season. The Bulldogs and Lady Techsters will compete in the Samford University Multi/Invite at the Birmingham Crossplex.

Tech will kick off the Samford University Multi/Invite by competing in the multis today. The field and running events will follow suit and commence on Friday.

"We look for significant improvement in all areas this week," said Head Coach Gary Stanley. "I'm very excited about seeing how our multis do."

Daniel San Juan, Aidan Holland, and Johannon Murray will start this weekend off today with the multis 60m and 60m hurdles. The men's 60m race will begin at 9:45 a.m. and the women's 60m hurdles will start at 10 a.m.

The Lady Techsters and Bulldogs will jumpstart the meet on Friday with the shot-put beginning at 9 a.m. Kristina Subia, Johnie Jean-Jacques, Tim Fitzgerald, and Hagan Ledrew will compete for Tech.

Four Tech athletes are slated to compete in the pole vault at 10:30 a.m. (Andrew Spellman, Aidan Holland, Gaby Bird, and Laura Degravelle). Immediately after the pole vault, Colin Butler, Jarvon Gaines, Maya Perry-Grimes, Pleasant Harris, Leah Scott, and Raven Alexander set to jump in the long jump. William Malone will throw in the weight throw at 2 p.m., and Murphy Bavinga will also compete in the triple jump at 2 p.m.

"I'm excited to see what we do in our second meet of the season since we've been able to come back home and make some adjustments," said Assistant Coach Raffael Craig. "The first multi-event is always about managing emotions and seeing it as one event."

The running events will begin with the 60m prelims at 11 a.m. Following the 60m prelims will be the 60m hurdles prelims.

Tech is set to compete against 10 other teams this weekend. The list of contenders includes Alcorn State, Keiser, Montevallo, Nicholls State, Samford, South Alabama, Southeastern, Tulane, UAB, and Wofford.

The meet will have live stats available on both days of competition. Tech fans can find the full schedule of events and heat sheets here.
