DALLAS – Thomas Henson carded a team-best 70 as the Louisiana Tech golf team finished with a round one total of 295 (+7) on Sunday at the Trinity Forest Golf Club.
Â
LA Tech, who enters day two in 16th place, is well within striking distance of the rest of the pack as 11 of the 17 teams shot at even par or over.Â
Â
Henson heads into round two tied for 13th individually. After registering a bogey on the 482-yard No. 4, the Central Missouri transfer made birdies on three of the next five holes. A double bogey on the par five No. 10 sent him back to even par, but he closed out the red with two more birdies to finish at -2.
Â
Lake Juban was second on the team with a 73 (+1). The senior went into the final three holes at +4, but dropped in an eagle on the 570-yard No. 16 and then closed out his round with a birdie on long 505-yard No 18.Â
Â
James Swash carded a 74 (+2) which included three bogeys that were bracketed by a pair of birdies on the par 4 No. 6 and No. 15.Â
Will Patrick and
Peyton Johnson each finished the day with a 78 (+6) while
Reeves Pullin, seeing his first action as a Bulldog, shot a 77 (+5) playing as an individual.

QUOTABLES
Head coach Matt Terry
Â
"Overall, we played decent except for holes eight through 10. We definitely have to play the par fives better in order to for us to move up the leaderboard. Thomas had a solid day today.  Lake and James had strong finishes. Looking forward to seeing how the team responds tomorrow."
