RUSTON – Louisiana Tech Softball announced Tuesday the 2023 schedule, highlighted by 24 regular season home games as well as hosting the 2023 Conference USA Tournament at Dr. Billy Bundrick Field.

"We are looking forward to the 2023 season, we have a lot of tough opponents in there," head coach Josh Taylor said. "We scheduled games against some power five opponents which will help our RPI bid."

The 43rd season of LA Tech Softball will begin Feb. 10-12 when SEMO visits Ruston for a three-game series as part of the Lady Techster Classic.

Following a midweek matchup on Feb. 15 at Southeastern, LA Tech will stay in south Louisiana to participate in the Mardi Gras Mambo on Feb. 17-19 where they will complete against Toledo, Manhattan, St. Thomas, Florida A&M, and Gardner Webb.

Next will be a highly anticipated showdown at Dr. Billy Bundrick Field as LA Tech plays host to LSU on Feb. 21, marking just the second time the Tigers will travel to Ruston since 2000.

LA Tech's second non-conference tournament will be at South Alabama on Feb. 25-26 with a field consisting of host USA as well as Washington and Mississippi State, both of which were ranked in the final 2022 top 25 poll.

"In Conference USA, each team needs to be strategic about how they schedule in regards to being more than a one bid league, which is what we are trying to do and in order to do that we have to play certain teams," Taylor said. "We are excited about the challenges in front of us the girls have been working hard this fall and we are looking forward to getting the season started in February."

The Lady Techsters then open up the month of March with a nine-game home stand starting with Central Arkansas (March 1), followed by the LA Tech Classic (March 3-5) and a matchup with ULM (March 7).

Conference USA play gets underway March 10-12 with LA Tech hosting a three-game series with North Texas.  The home stand wraps up against Northwestern State on March 14.

Remaining non-conference matchups include a midweek showdown at Texas A&M, a trip to Baton Rouge to face BYU, NC State, and host LSU, a return midweek at ULM, back-to-back games versus UL-Lafayette at home and Ole Miss on the road, and a crosstown meeting with Grambling State in Ruston.

Along with the North Texas series, LA Tech will also host Middle Tennessee, UTSA, and Charlotte during the C-USA slate.  The Lady Techsters will travel to face FIU, UAB, UTEP, and WKU as part of league play.
