Bulldogs to Clash with UTSA at Alamodome
RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech football team is back on the road as they travel to San Antonio, Texas to take on UTSA inside the Alamodome on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN+.

The Bulldogs are coming off a dominant 40-24 win over Middle Tennessee. Wide Receivers
Tre Harris (157) and
Cyrus Allen (109) both went over 100 yards receiving, while running back
Marquis Crosby (123) eclipsed the century mark on the ground. It was the first time Tech had two wide receivers and a running back tally over 100 yards in the same game since Oct. 16, 2016, against Rice.
Defensively the Bulldogs forced four turnovers, including two interceptions by defensive back
Myles Brooks and a pick-six by defensive back
Willie Roberts. Jacob
Barnes nailed four field goals and made all four extra points to accumulate 16 points during the game, while
Praise Okorie recorded the Dogs' first blocked punt since 2018 in the third quarter.
Quarterback
Parker McNeil leads the Tech offense, having passed for 1,908 yards and 18 touchdowns this season. In the win over Middle Tennessee, McNeil threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns.
The Bulldogs receiving core is led by the trio of
Tre Harris,
Smoke Harris and tight end
Griffin Hebert.
Tre Harris leads LA Tech this season with 49 receptions, 803 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns. Harris' nine touchdowns rank fourth nationally, while his 809 receiving yards rank 16th. As a result of his performance this season, Harris was added to the 2022 Biletnikoff Award Watch List, becoming the first LA Tech receiver to be selected since Adrian Hardy in 2019.
Smoke Harris has tallied 493 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Harris has recorded a reception in 29 consecutive games, which is the 18
th longest streak in the country and is the only Bulldog to score a touchdown in every season dating back to 2018.
Hebert's 58.0 receiving yards per game rank this season ranks fourth among all FBS tight ends. Hebert also ranks 14th nationally in average yards per catch (19.33).
On the ground, running back
Marquis Crosby leads the way with 694 total yards and five touchdowns this season. Crosby has topped the century mark in his last two games.
LA Tech ranks fourth nationally in scrimmage plays over 30 yards (32), and 40 yards (12) while ranking fifth nationally in plays from scrimmage over 50 yards (9).
Defensively, LA Tech has had a knack for taking the ball away from opposing offenses. The Bulldogs lead the country in forced fumbles (14) while ranking fifth in turnovers gained (21) and sixth in fumble recoveries (11).
Linebacker
Hugh Davis leads the LA Tech defense with 55 tackles and ranks third on the team with 1.5 sacks.
Defensive back
BeeJay Williamson is second on the team in tackles with 52, including one and a half for loss in addition to an interception and three pass breakups.
Roberts and Brooks lead the LA Tech secondary with three interceptions apiece, tied for the second most in the conference. Brooks has been named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week twice this season.
Kershawn Fisher is the Bulldogs leading tackler on the defensive line with 30 total stops, followed by Deshon Hall with 20.
Cumbie is in his inaugural season at the helm of the LA Tech football program. LA Tech is one of 29 FBS programs with a new coach this season.
ABOUT UTSA (7-2)
UTSA currently stands atop the C-USA standings with a perfect 5-0 mark, garnering wins over Middle Tennessee (45-30), Western Kentucky (31-28), FIU (30-10), North Texas (31-27) and UAB (44-38).
The Road Runners defeated Army (41-38) and fell to Houston (35-37) and Texas (20-41) in non-conference play.
UTSA comes into the matchup with the 12
th-ranked total offense in the country, averaging 490.2 yards a contest. The Road Runners are averaging 36.6 points per game while allowing 30.3 points.
The offense is led by dual-threat quarterback Frank Harris who has completed 228 of 330 passes this season for 2,823 yards and 21 touchdowns while throwing six interceptions. Harris has also accumulated 354 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.
Running back Brenden Brady is their leading rusher with 570 yards and seven touchdowns.
Wide receivers Zakhari Franklin and Joshua Cephus have been Harris' biggest weapons, with 768 yards and nine touchdowns and 742 yards and four touchdowns, respectively.
Junior inside linebacker Jamal Ligon leads UTSA with 58 tackles, including 3.5 for a total of eight yards lost. Â
The Road Runners are led by head coach Jeff Traylor who is in his third season at UTSA. In 2021, Traylor garnered C-USA Coach of the Year honors after leading the Road Runners to a 12-2 overall mark culminating in a conference championship.
