CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Louisiana Tech women's soccer team had their season come to a close in the 2022 Conference USA Quarterfinals suffering a 4-1 loss to Florida Atlantic Wednesday afternoon.
LA Tech found themselves in a big hole early after two goals, just 45 seconds apart, from C-USA's Midfielder of the Year Gi Krstec.
Tech would get one back from
Kalli Matlock in the 31' for her fourth goal of the season, which closed the gap heading in to halftime, 2-1.
Tech had a couple chances in FAU's box but could not convert when they needed.
The Owls extended their lead, 3-1, on a penalty kick from Hailey Landrus and added insurance from Bri Austin in the 67'.
In a year where Tech faced plenty of adversity, the Lady Techsters finished the season 7-9-3 overall with a 5-3-2 mark in Conference USA in the first full season under the direction of head coach
Steve Voltz.
Tech was still able to grab their first conference tournament bid since 2019, enjoyed the most All-Conference selections and honors, and finished with their highest conference finish since 2017.
