ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (1-0)
Louisiana Tech opened the 2022-23 season in dominant fashion Monday night inside the Thomas Assembly Center with an 86-30 win over Central Baptist. LA Tech has now won six straight season-openers.

Five Lady Techsters reached double figures in the game, led by Keiunna Walker with 17. Walker moved past Monica Maxwell for No. 26 on the all-time scoring list.

Anna Larr Roberson (11 points, 7 rebounds), Amaya Brannon (10 points, 8 rebounds), Silvia Nativi (10 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists), and Robyn Lee (11 points) joined Walker in double figures.

Tech held a 40-point advantage (46-6) in the paint over Central Baptist, while Tech's bench outscored the Mustang's 46-9.

Defensively, Tech held Central Baptist to 9-51 shooting, and the 30 points allowed matched the tenth-lowest single game in program history. Tech's defense forced 23 Mustang turnovers which led to 17 points.

Pittsburgh transfer Gabbie Green and freshmen Ayen Angoi and Anja Bukvic all made their Techster debuts.

ABOUT ARKANSAS STATE (0-0)
Arkansas State will open its 2022-23 season with LA Tech after being picked No. 9 in the Sun Belt preseason coach's poll (out of 14 teams).

Last season, The Red Wolves finished with an overall record of 12-16 and a 5-9 mark in conference play. They posted a 4-9 record on the road during 2021-22.

Their new head coach, Destinee Rogers, was named the interim head coach last season and coached her first game on Dec. 14, 2021, against Mississippi Valley State, picking up the first win of her head coaching career, 81-47.

Rogers led ASU the final 18 games of the season to an 8-10 record with a first-round loss in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament to Coastal Carolina (91-76) to end the year. Rogers' interim tag was removed in March and promoted to full-time Head Coach.

Arkansas State returns two of their five double-digit scorers from last season in Keya Patton (14.3 ppg) and Lauryn Pendleton (11.3 ppg). Patton was tabbed Preseason Sun Belt First-Team, while Pendleton was named to the Third-Team.

ASU added three new Division I transfers this spring in Izzy Igginbottom (Missouri), Melodie Kapinga (UC-Irvine), and Bre Beck (Florida Atlantic).

THE SERIES
Thursday will be the 43rd overall meeting between the Techsters and the Red Wolves.

The series features the fourth-most matchups in program history with an opponent.

The first-ever matchup was during the 1987-88 season in Ruston (113-50) which started a six-game win streak that was snapped in 1990-91 in Jonesboro.

The two programs would split two of the next four between the 1990 and 1992 seasons before the Techsters would reel off 29 straight wins from 1992-2011.

ASU's last win in the series snapped the streak in 2013-14 with a 91-68 win in Ruston, Tech's only home loss in the series.

Tech has won the last two meetings, 2018-19 in Jonesboro and the last matchup in December of 2019 in Ruston, 67-54.
