RUSTON – Louisiana Tech recorded five singles wins to help claim its 10th victory of the season, a 5-2 decision over Arkansas State on Sunday afternoon at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.
 
It took another comeback effort by LA Tech (10-2) as Arkansas State (3-5) prevailed on courts one and three by scores of 6-2 apiece to claim the opening point of the match.
 
Emotions ran high as the Lady Techsters responded by winning the first set on five of the six singles courts.  Ilana Tetruashvili even things up at the No. 4 position with an overpowering 6-1, 6-1 victory versus Sofia Vdovychenko.
 
Her court neighbor, Alexia Romero, gave LA Tech the upper-hand at the No. 5 spot with her sixth straight singles victory, besting Yasmine Hubert by a final score of 6-1, 6-3.
 
After coming from behind to help the team win their first conference match of the season this past Friday, Leonie Schuknecht dropped just four games to defeat Thea Rice 6-2, 6-2 at the top position to make it 3-1 in favor of the home team.
 
The clinching point came at the No. 3 position where Najah Dawson recovered from dropping back-to-back games at 5-2 to outduel Emily Surcey by a final score of 6-2, 6-4.  Olga Bienzobas tacked on an insurance point in a hardfought 7-5, 7-6 (3) win over Nejla Zukic on court two.
