ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (16-6, 7-3 C-USA)
After starting conference by winning six straight, LA Tech has dropped three of its last four league games. The Bulldogs suffered an 83-73 loss to Florida Atlantic on Thursday in Boca Raton.
Â
Down as much as 20 in the first half, LA Tech was able to slice the deficit down to six but that was as close as they would get. FAU ended up shooting 52.0 percent from the field, the most by any opponent this season.
Â
David Green came off the bench to play a career-high 24 minutes while recording a team-high 18 points. It marked the third time this season he has anchored the 'Dogs in scoring in a game (has scored 17+ four times this season).
Â
Kenneth Lofton, Jr. recorded his 13th double-double of the season with 16 points and 14 rebounds to go along with career highs in assists (six) and steals (four). He has registered four straight double-doubles, the first Bulldog to do that in conference play since Paul Millsap in 2006.
Â
Despite the loss to the Owls, the Bulldogs continue to rank first in C-USA games only in field goal percentage defense (39.1) and fourth in scoring defense (65.5).
Â
ABOUT FIU (13-9, 3-6 C-USA)
FIU snapped its two-game losing streak with a 77-67 victory over Southern Miss on Thursday. The Panthers ended the game on a 17-5 run to improve to 3-6 in C-USA play.
Â
They have been nearly unbeatable at home with a 10-1 record while averaging 80.2 points per game and shooting 48 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc.
Â
The Panthers rank first in C-USA and top 15 in the country in several three-point categories – most three-point attempts (663), total three-pointers made (222) and threes made per game (10.1). They average 28.8 three-point attempts per contest and have made 10+ in 12 games (made 13 against the Golden Eagles).
Â
FIU is anchored in scoring by Tevin Brewer who is averaging 15.4 points per game. The Panthers have five players who have made at least 25 three-pointers this season with Brewer leading the way with 46 triples.
Â
THE SERIES
LA Tech leads the all-time series over FIU, 8-7. The two teams last played during the 2019-20 season when the Bulldogs picked up a pair of home wins over the Panthers by scores of 60-57 and 76-73.
Â
The Bulldogs are 2-5 all-time versus the Panthers in Miami with the last victory coming in 2000 when they were members of the Sun Belt Conference. LA Tech has yet to win at FIU since becoming C-USA opponents, dropping all four meetings.
