Bulldogs Blowout Huskies in Game One

LA Tech looks to clinch series tomorrow at 2 p.m.

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech dominates Houston Baptist in a 22-2 victory Friday afternoon at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.

For the second time in one week LA Tech (9-5) scores 20 plus runs. And 10 plus runs in four out of the last five games.

Jonathan Fincher earns the win and moves to 4-0 through four starts. Fincher was splendid, striking out five Huskie batters and only allowing one hit in six innings of work.

Taylor Young (3-for-4), Cole McConnell (2-for-4), Steele Netterville (4-for-5) and Logan McLeod (4-for-6) led the offensive charge in hits all recording multi-hit games.

Five different Bulldogs recorded multi-RBI games, including Adarius Myers who came off the bench as a pinch-hitter and blasted LA Tech's first grand slam of the year.

Kyle Hasler, Ben Brantley, Jackson Lancaster, Jackson Slaughter and Adarius Myers all collected knocks off the bench. Lancaster recorded his first home run of the season.

The Bulldogs notched 11 extra base hits and four home runs all in the last four innings of the game.

At the halfway point in Friday's game, it was scoreless. The Bulldogs then rallied to score seven in the fifth inning. Young tripled to left center field to take a 1-0 lead. McConnell followed up with a double to bring in Young. Corona and Philip Matulia both added to the party with two RBI knocks. McLeod split the gap scoring all three baserunners.

LA Tech scored 12 runs in the bottom of the seventh. The last time the Bulldogs reached 10 or more runs in an inning was May 8, 2010 versus Sacremento State. Young, McConnell, Netterville and Myers all added to their big days at the plate in the inning.

Taylor Young had appeared at the plate twice in the seventh recording an RBI walk and a three-run home run.

QUOTABLES
Head Coach Lane Burroughs

"A lot contributed offensively. In college baseball how often do you see two straight Friday's score 20 plus runs. It just doesn't happen on Friday nights. It's amazing the little things that happened over the course of the game that can open up the flood gates."

"Proud of our guys. (Jonathan) Fincher was good, you give him a lead like that its katy bar the door usually he's going to win. The only message I had to the team was the team over here lost 24-1 last Friday night. They came back and won the next three games."
