LA Tech Football to Host Inaugural Women’s Clinic

All proceeds to the event will go to the Domestic Abuse Resistance Team Foundation (D.A.R.T.)

RUSTON, – The Louisiana Tech football coaching staff will hold its inaugural women's football clinic on Thursday, July 28.

"We're excited to have our first ever Women's Football Clinic at Louisiana Tech," said head coach Sonny Cumbie. "Our staff knows the importance of reaching out within our community."

The event will feature a facility tour, drills, film study and photo shoot. Participants will also meet players and the coaching staff and have access to a complimentary taco and refreshment bar.

All proceeds to the event will go to the Domestic Abuse Resistance Team Foundation (D.A.R.T.).  The organization provides help to domestic and dating violence victims and their children in North Central Louisiana in the parishes of Jackson, Lincoln, Union, Winn, Claiborne, Bienville and Grant.

"We are incredibly thankful to partner with Louisiana Tech Football for this clinic," D.A.R.T. board member Kris Barney said. "We are appreciative of the opportunity to help raise awareness for D.A.R.T. I will be sharing my testimony and giving a presentation on red flags to look for in domestic violence and its impact on women, men and children in the situation."

The clinic costs $50 and will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Davison Athletic Complex. Doors to the event will open at 5:30 p.m. Dress attire is casual and tennis shoes are recommended.

"Putting on this clinic is one way we can build connections within the city of Ruston and do it to support a great cause," Cumbie added. "See you all next Thursday at the Joe."
