RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech Volleyball team heads to the west coast this weekend to take part in the Fresno State Invitational, a four-team event at the Save Mart Center that includes host Fresno State, San Francisco and Seattle U.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (2-2)
LA Tech won its home opener on Wednesday, defeating Grambling State 3-1 (16-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-22). After seeing limited action in the first three matches, freshman
Sydney Jackwin registered a double-double with 19 kills and 17 digs.

Middle blocker
Ashley Taylor had another block party, recording a season-high five versus GSU. The newcomer has tallied multiple blocks in all four games this season, totaling a team-high 14. Offensively, she leads the Lady Techsters in total kills as well with 43.

Setter
Ashley Jones ranks first in C-USA and eighth in the country in total assists with 152. She has had two games with 40+ assists, including 41 against the Lady Tigers.

McKenzie Johnson is known for her digging, but the sophomore has been a service ace specialist as well this season. She has eight this season, tied for the most in C-USA and the 24th most in the nation.

ABOUT SAN FRANCISCO (3-0)
USF opened the 2022 season by claiming the Bobcat Classic in Montana with victories over Montana State (3-2), St. Thomas (3-0) and Grand Canyon (3-1).

The Dons were anchored by Tournament MVP Maria Petkova who amassed 37 kills and a .359 hitting percentage. They also three other players eclipse 20+ kills in the tournament while settle Aylen Ayub racked up 104 assists.

ABOUT FRESNO STATE (1-2)
FSU spent its first weekend of action in Charleston, South Carolina at the COFC Invitational. The Bulldogs suffered a 3-2 loss to host College of Charleston and a 3-1 defeat to Rutgers before wrapping up the event with a 3-0 shutout over The Citadel.

Offensively, they are led by the attacking duo of Ella Rud and Grace Doyle who combined for 84 kills in the tournament. The team posted a hitting percentage of .219.

ABOUT SEATTLE U (0-0)
Seattle U is getting its season underway this weekend at the Fresno State Invitational. The Redhawks feature 13 new athletes, led by transfers Arianna Bilby and Shanice Horn. Bilby was a Second Team All-American at Bellevue College while Horn transfers from Butler where she tallied 307 kills.Â
