RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech Golf team will get its 2022-23 season underway on September 11 at Squire Creek Country Club as the Bulldogs host the 10th annual Jim Rivers Intercollegiate.
Â
Twenty-two teams and 124 total golfers will compete in the three-day event (Sunday-Tuesday) at LA Tech's home course. One round of 18 holes will be played each day for a total of 54 holes.
Â
The annual home event for the Bulldogs was known as the Squire Creek Invitational prior to it being renamed the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate in 2012 in order to honor the legendary former Bulldog letterman Jim Rivers.
Â
At last year's tournament, Bulldog golfer
Sam Murphy became just the second player in program history to win the event. He won it by four strokes with a 203 (-13), tying for the lowest three-round individual score in Jim Rivers Intercollegiate history.
Â
Those competing with LA Tech in the 2022 Jim Rivers Intercollegiate are LSU, UTSA, Houston, SMU, North Texas, Rice, Nicholls State, Francis Marion, Southern Miss, Oral Roberts, South Alabama, ULM, UL-Lafayette, Abilene Christian, Troy, Middle Tennessee, Lamar, Kennesaw State, High Point, Central Arkansas and Missouri State.
Â
Admission is free to the event. The remainder of the Bulldog Golf schedule will be released at a later date.
