RUSTON - C-USA play begins this weekend for the Louisiana Tech Volleyball team as they face off against Charlotte this Friday at the Thomas Assembly Center. This will be the first of seven C-USA games hosted by the Lady Techsters.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (6-8)
LA Tech has started the season 6-8 in non-conference play by ending last weekend at the Battle for the Boot in Hammond, LA. The Lady Techsters beat Southern 3-0 (25-9, 26-24, 29-27). After their sweep against SU, The Lady Techsters weren't able to come out on top while facing Northwestern (19-25, 26-24 24-26, 25-19, 13-15) and Southeastern (27-25, 25-14, 29-27).Â

During The Lady Techster's non-conference play, they defeated UCA for the first time in program history in the Central Arkansas Invitational in Conway. While in Conway, LA Tech also took down ULM 3-2 for the second time after beating them earlier that week in a home match in Ruston 3-2.

McKenzie Johnson still holds her national ranking as 17th in service aces. With a total of 26 on the season, Johnson sits in 2nd place in C-USA.Â

ABOUT CHARLOTTE (6-6)
In Charlotte's non-conference play this season they've faced against seven power five opponents, five from the ACC with victories over Syracuse and Virginia.Â

With 248 kills on the year, Emani' Foster is ranked 2nd in the nation. Besides her ranking in kills, Fosters is also third in total attacks with 605, fourth in points per set at 5.91, and kills per set at 5.28 in 12 matches.

Head Coach Karen Weatherington lead the Niners 13-5 record, 9-3 mark in C-USA to set a new school record for most wins in a league season, went a perfect 7-0 at home, and led the Niners to a semifinal appearance in the C-USA Tournament for the first time in school history.

THE SERIES
LA Tech leads 4-3 over Charlotte in their previous matches. The Lady Techsters won their first four match-ups starting back in 2013 but the 49ers have come back to try and take the lead by defeating LA Tech in the last three. The two teams haven't seen each other since Head Coach
Amber McCray's first season in Ruston in 2019 when Charlotte defeated the Lady Techsters 2-3 (23-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-13, 10-15)
