RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech football team continues its road swing with a trip to Mobile, Ala., to visit the South Alabama Jaguars. The game will kick off at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.

ABOUT LA TECH (1-2)
The Bulldogs are coming off a 20-48 loss at No. 5 Clemson, a game in which LA Tech trailed 6-13 at the half and was much closer than the final score indicated. The Bulldogs' 20 points were the most Clemson has allowed by a regular-season non-conference opponent since 2018.
Tight end
Griffin Hebert had five receptions for 122 yards which were the most by an opposing player at Clemson since Deebo Samuel's 210 receiving yards on Nov. 24, 2018, while playing for South Carolina. Hebert currently leads the nation in yards per catch at 30.83. His 278 receiving yards on the year also lead all FBS tight ends.
Quarterback
Parker McNeil threw for 311 yards and a touchdown to
Tre Harris, courtesy of a 13-yard pass in the fourth quarter. McNeil had seven plays that yielded gains of 20 yards or more.
Linebacker
Tyler Grubbs finished one tackle shy of his career-high at Clemson with 15. Grubbs leads LA Tech in tackles this season with 31 total stops. He ranks fourth nationally in solo tackles per game (6.3) and 13
th nationally in total tackles per game (10.3).
Defensive back Reginald Johnson leads the Dogs in pass breakups with four. Johnson only allowed one catch at Clemson despite being targeted five times.
J'Dan Burnett,
Kershawn Fisher and Deshon Hall all lead the LA Tech defensive line with seven tackles apiece, including two tackles for loss. Burnett has the Bulldogs' only defensive touchdown this season when he returned a fumble 30 yards to the endzone against Stephen F. Austin.
Head coach
Sonny Cumbie is in his inaugural season at the helm of the LA Tech football program. LA Tech is one of 29 FBS programs with a new coach this season.
ABOUT SOUTH ALABAMA (2-1)
The Jaguars are coming off a 31-32 loss at UCLA. South Alabama was leading 31-23 heading into the fourth quarter before UCLA responded with nine unanswered points, capped by a 24-yard game-winning field goal as time expired.
The Jaguars opened their season with wins over Nicholls (48-7) and Central Michigan (38-24).
The offense is led by quarterback Bradley Carter, who has completed 66.99 percent of his passes this season for 851 yards and seven touchdowns. Running back La'Damian Webb is the Jaguars' leading rusher with a total of 319 yards and five touchdowns. Webb is averaging 104.33 yards a contest and 5.8 yards a carry.
Jalen Wayne and Caulin Lacy are Carter's favorite targets. Wayne has 272 receiving yards and three touchdowns this season, while Lacy has tallied 218 yards and a touchdown.
South Alabama has managed to keep opposing offenses off the field this season with a time of possession of 35:15, the fourth best in the country.
Defensively South Alabama ranks 33
rd nationally in rushing defense, surrendering 96.7 yards a game and 35
th in total defense at 308.7 yards per contest.
Safety Jaden Voisin and inside linebacker Quentin Wilfawn lead the Jaguars in tackles with 17, respectively. Inside linebacker A.J. DeShazor recorded South Alabama's only interception thus far in the season opener against Nicholls.
The Jaguars are led by head coach Kane Wommack who is in his second season at the helm. South Alabama registered a 5-7 mark in 2021.
