Lady Techsters Set to Face Rice

RUSTON- The Louisiana Tech Volleyball team faces off with Rice on Sunday, Sept. 25 for their second C-USA this weekend at the Thomas Assembly Center.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (7-8, 1-0)
LA Tech comes into Sunday's game after a 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-18) sweep against Charlotte on Friday to open conference play. This was the first time since joining C-USA in 2013, the Lady Techsters opened with a 3-0 sweep. 
 
During the match, Andrea Spasojevic added her sixth double-double to the season with 10 kills, 10 digs, and added three services aces. Along with Spasojevic, three more Lady Techsters had double-digit digs for themselves, Meghan Dunnigan, McKenzie Johnson, and Sydney Jackwin collected 10. LA Tech led over the 49ers 7-1 in service aces. With 46 kills on Friday, The Lady Techsters' match made the records books for the third most in program history. 12 of the 46 were produced from Charde Vanzandt on 22 attacks, along with three digs. 
 
ABOUT RICE (11-1, 1-0)
Rice heads to Ruston after opening C-USA play on Friday night by defeating UTSA to give them their seventh sweep of the season. The owls gained a season-high of 11 service aces and were able to hold the Roadrunners to only 21 kills. Rice held their ground throughout the match by never giving UTSA a chance to take a lead in all three sets. 
 
Rice's Danyle Courtleyled the owls with a total of 10 kills with a 4.29 hitting percentage. Sahara came in behind Courtley with nine kills and matched Carly Graham with three service aces. The owl libero, Nia McCardell produced 16 digs on the night. 
 
THE SERIES
Rice leads over LA Tech 3-21 in their previous match-ups. The Lady Techsters haven't beaten the owls since 2015 when they defeated them in a five-set match 3-2 (25-21, 12-25, 16-25, 28-26, 15-13).
