Lady Techsters Hit the Road for UTEP

RUSTON- The Louisiana Tech volleyball team hits the road to continue conference play this weekend in El Paso, Texas facing off with UTEP at 7 p.m. CT.

ABOUT LA TECH (7-9, 1-1 C-USA)
LA Tech (7-9) comes into the weekend after beginning conference play last week against Charlotte and Rice. During The Lady Techsters' match against Charlotte last Friday, Andrea Spasojevic adds her fifth double-double to the season with 10 kills, 10 digs, and adds three services aces. Along with Spasojevic, three other Lady Techsters finished with 10 digs, Meghan Dunnigan, McKenzie Johnson, and Sydney Jackwin. La Tech defeated the 49ers in a 3-0 match being the first time since joining C-USA in 2013 they've opened with a sweep. 
 
LA Tech's match last Sunday with Rice didn't have the same outcome by falling 0-3. Andrea Spasojevic totaled nine kills and three digs. Two Lady Techsters collected double-digit digs; Johnson with 17 and Jackwin with 12 to add to the team total of 52. 
 
ABOUT UTEP (8-7, 2-0 C-USA)
UTEP begins the weekend after being on the road in Florida last weekend facing off with FIU and Florida Atlantic collecting their first C-USA wins of the season. Over 15 matched, three Miners are averaging at least 2.0 kills per set. Torrance Lovesee leads UTEP with 139 on the season followed by Sara Pustahiji with 152 and Serena Patterson with 155. 
 
Kaya Weaver and Lovesse earned the fifth 2022 Conference USA Volleyball Player of the Week honors. Lovesee was named Offensive Player of the Week after posting 30 kills over eight sets last week. Weaver took the Freshman of the Week honors after hitting an overall team-high of .535 with 12 total blocks and was third on the team in kills with 28.  
 
THE SERIES
UTEP is 12-8 against LA Tech. The Miners swept the Lady Techsters in back-to-back matches last season in Memorial Gym. UTEP has won the last six meetings consisting of five straight sweeps.
