LA Tech Falls to UTEP

EL PASO, Texas - The Louisiana Tech Volleyball team fell to UTEP, 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-16), Friday night in Memorial Gym.
LA Tech (7-10, 1-2 C-USA) was not able to collect a set during their match against UTEP (8-8, 3-0 C-USA). Most of the Lady Techsters' points in the first set came from Miners' turnovers. Andrea Spasojevic, Carla Esquer, Meghan Dunnigan, and Sydney Jackwin all produced a kill for LA Tech along with eight errors from UTEP.
Although the Lady Techsters could not pull of the second set, they improved from the first. Dunnigan added another kill along with two service aces to go along with Sapojevic's three kills and five digs.
LA Tech went back and forth with the Miners early on in the third set until UTEP took a five-point lead after a 3-0 scoring run. The run came from a kill and two errors produced by the Lady Techsters. Spasojevic added three more kills and two digs to give her seven kills and five digs on the night. Esquer and Chard'e Vanzandt both totaled three at the finish of the match.

"UTEP dominated us in every facet of the game tonight and it showed in the scores. We knew it would be a tough challenge to stop a team with solid attackers in every position and we unfortunately did not take the necessary steps to minimize their balance. As with any loss, even the hard ones like this, we will learn from it to rebound quickly so we can give ourselves the best chance to go compete Sunday."

LA Tech will continue on the road Sunday, Oct. 2 at the Convocation Center in San Antonio, Texas against UTSA. First serve is set for noon.
