RUSTON –Louisiana Tech Sophomore Center Fielder
Sierra Sacco continues to collect preseason honors as she checked in at 94th overall in the Extra Innings Softball Elite 100 College Players List, the organization announced on Monday.
Sacco is coming off a record-breaking freshman campaign in which she batted .441 with a school-record 83 hits, 54 runs scored and 21 runs batted in. The center fielder was named Conference USA Freshman of the Year, first-team all-conference and First Team NFCA All-Mideast Region.
The Marrero, La., product ranked fifth nationally in hits (83), eighth nationally in batting average (.441) and 14th nationally in on-base percentage (.535). Sacco currently leads all active NCAA Division I players in career batting average (.441).
LA Tech opens its season on Feb. 11 when they host Southeast Missouri State at 4 p.m. for game one of a three-game series.
