ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (12-8, 5-5 C-USA)
Louisiana Tech got back to .500 in conference play with a 67-62 win over UAB Thursday night to sweep the season series and make it eight straight over the Blazers. Tech outrebounded the Blazers (34-28), making them a perfect 8-0 this season when grabbing more boards than the opposition.
Robyn Lee scored a career-high 20 points off the bench, including 16 first-half points, while
Keiunna Walker reached double figures for the 14
th consecutive game with 18.
Tech was again without all-conference forward
Anna Larr Roberson but has managed a 5-2 mark in her absence thanks to an all-around effort from a more experienced squad this season. Tech has gotten contributions from Lee,
Salma Bates,
Mackenzie Wurm,
Amaya Brannon,
Lotte Sant, and
Silvia Nativi.
Bates scored double figures in four conference games while averaging 3.4 assists. Brannon has reached double figures in six C-USA contests and recorded two double-digit rebounding nights. Wurm has proven to be one of the best shot blockers in the league, recording three straight games of three blocks followed by a season-high five at UAB. Sant is shooting 61 percent from three in the last ten games, and Nativi remains a top-20 player in the country in the assist-to-turnover ratio.
LA Tech has been one of the more efficient teams on both sides of the ball this season, ranking No. 2 in scoring defense (60.3 PPG), defensive field goal percentage (.373), field goal percentage (.449), three-point percentage (.343), free throw percentage (.780), assists (276), and assists per game (13.8).
The Techsters are sitting in a three-way tie for fourth place with FIU and Charlotte, one game behind UTEP for third. Tech has three of its next four games at home, holding an 7-3 record.
ABOUT UTSA (4-15, 2-8 C-USA)
UTSA has picked up two wins in conference play over UAB and Charlotte but comes into Saturday's contest having dropped their last four matchups.
USC transfer Jordyn Jenkins has been selected as the C-USA Player of the Week three times this season and leads Conference USA with 20.3 PPG. The preseason all-conference selection has registered 20 or more points on 11 occasions, including two 30-plus point performances against Houston (35) and UTEP (37). UTSA is averaging 63.4 PPG on .392 shooting while giving up 68.8 PPG on .402 shooting to opponents. Their 80 blocks (2.1 BPG) rank second in C-USA, partly thanks to Elyssa Coleman's 1.7 per game.

THE SERIES
Thursday's game will be the 23rd overall meeting between the two programs in a series that dates back to the 1984-85 season, with LA Tech taking the first-ever matchup on a neutral floor, 80-39. The two teams would not meet again until 2005-06 in a neutral setting, with Tech winning 75-67.
Tech began the series by winning seven of the first eight, including the first three, followed by four wins in a row, which tied the longest series streak. Tech won four straight again between 2019 and 2022 before UTSA snapped the streak in the last meeting, 59-49, last season in San Antonio. The only meeting to ever reach an overtime period was a Tech win in 2015-16 (82-72).
Tech and UTSA have split the last two meetings in Ruston. The Techsters won the first meeting this season in San Antonio, 62-57.
