RUSTON – Louisiana Tech Softball has announced its 2024 schedule, highlighted by over 25 regular season home games at Dr. Billy Bundrick Field.
"We are excited about the upcoming season," head coach
Josh Taylor said. "We have matchups with ULL and McNeese. Both were super regional participants last year. We have a tough non-conference with a trip to LSU, where we will play a really good Illinois team twice, McNeese, San Diego State, and LSU. We are excited about our schedule and where it puts us in regards to challenging and preparing us for conference play."
The 44th season of LA Tech Softball will begin Feb. 10-11 when the Bulldogs host the Saint Louis Billikens for a doubleheader on Saturday (Noon and 2 p.m.) before an 11 a.m. series finale on Sunday.
Following the opening series, the Bulldogs will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Southeastern Louisiana for a midweek showdown on Feb. 12 and Feb. 14.
The season's first road trip will be Feb. 16-18 when LA Tech participates in the Best of the Bayou Classic hosted at ULM. Joining the Bulldogs and Warhawks in the field will be Lindenwood.
The Bulldogs close out the month with a trip to Louisiana-Lafayette (Feb. 20), The Bulldog Classic (Feb. 23-25), and a matchup at Central Arkansas (Feb. 28).
LA Tech opens the month of March with a return to Baton Rouge to participate in the purple and gold challenge against the likes of Illinois (March 1, March 2), San Diego State (March 2), McNeese (March 3) and LSU (March 3). Every opponent besides Illinois made the NCAA tournament last season, while San Diego State and McNeese advanced to the Super Regionals in 2023.
Tech will then travel to Baton Rouge to Lake Charles to face McNeese (March 5) before returning to Ruston.
The Bulldogs open the Conference USA slate at home with Sam Houston (March, 8-10), before hosting Northwestern State for a midweek on March 12.
Tech then travels to Murfreesboro to take on Middle Tennessee (March 15-17), followed by a midweek with Louisiana-Lafayette on March 20.
The rest of the slate for March features a home series with WKU (March 22-24), a midweek with Grambling State (March 26), and the Bulldogs' inaugural trip to Liberty (March 28-30).
Louisiana Tech will have a break in the CUSA schedule at the beginning of April with a weekend at Auburn with a pair of games against the Tigers and Georgia Tech (April 5-7).
2023 NCAA Tournament participant Ole Miss will come to The Billy for a doubleheader on April 9.
CUSA play resumes with a series at Jacksonville State (April 12-14), in the first meeting between the programs since 2016. A short trip to Natchitoches to face Northwestern State follows on April 16.
Concluding the 2024 regular season schedule is a conference series against UTEP (April 19-21), at New Mexico State (April 26-29), a midweek against McNeese (April 30), and the final regular season series at The Billy against FIU (May 3-5).
The 2024 Conference USA Softball Championship will occur in Las Cruces, N.M., at the New Mexico State Softball Complex.
