MONROE – Louisiana Tech overcame one large deficit Tuesday night, but it could not overcome a second as the Bulldogs fell, 10-6, to ULM at Lou St. Amant Field.
 
LA Tech (10-11) struck first in the top of the second when Jonathan Hogart singled through the right side to score Philip Matulia who drew a five-pitch walk earlier in the frame. 
 
The lead was short-lived though as ULM (8-14) put up a 5-spot in the bottom half of the inning.  After weekend starter Rawley Hector did his one inning of work, Nick Fraginals came on and could not get out of the inning unscathed. 
 
The Warhawks did all of their damage with two outs too, tallying four singles while also taking advantage of a hit-by-pitch and a Bulldog error to gain a 5-1 advantage.
 
LA Tech quickly evened things up at 5-all in the top of the third.  After loading the bases via two walks and a hit-by-pitch, Matulia drove the ball to right field for a double that scored two.  Walker Burchfield stepped to the plate next and drove in two as well with a single to center.
 
The ULM offensive was not done though.  They tacked on two more in the fifth off Ryan Harland (0-2) after opening up the frame with a single and a double.  The lead expanded to 10-5 in the sixth when the Warhawks pounded out four more hits to score three, this time off Jonathan Fincher during his one inning of midweek work.
 
Unfortunately, the Bulldog offense was not able to erase this deficit.  After putting up five runs on five hits through the first three innings, the 'Dogs could only manage three hits (a solo home run by Ethan Bates in the ninth) the remainder of the game.
 
Brandt Corley (1-2) got the win on the mound for ULM, pitching 2.2 innings of no-run baseball.
