ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (1-0-0)
LA Tech started out the 2023 season with a 3-1 road victory over Colorado College on Thursday.  The Bulldogs got a trio of goals from two defenders -- Laura Ogando and Sophie Fijneman -- as well as striker Lauren Egbuloniu.

Ogando came in with zero goals scored in 34 career matches at LA Tech.  The defender found the back of the net in the 11th minute to net the first goal of the season for the Bulldogs.  Egbuloniu notched what would be the game-winning goal early in the second half, the third such goal of her career. Meanwhile, Fijneman registered her team-leading eighth career goal, a dagger that came in the 88th minute to put the match away.

Laerke Holst made her first collegiate appearance in net. The redshirt sophomore transfer tallied four saves for her first career victory.

With the victory, LA Tech improved to 12-7-1 in season openers.  They are also 8-1-1 in season openers over the last decade.

ABOUT COLORADO STATE (0-0-1)
Colorado State opened up its 2023 season with a 1-1 draw against Denver.  Auburn transfer Olivia Fout scored in her debut with the Rams in the first half, but the Pioneers equalized in the 51st minute of the second half.

CSU outshot Denver, 17-9, with five of those shots coming on goal.  They also had a 6-3 corner kick advantage in the road match.

The Rams, who went 4-7-8 last season, were picked to finish seventh in the Mountain West Conference preseason poll.  CSU is having to replace midfielder Liv Layton who had a team-high 15 points on six goals and three assists last season.
