Bulldogs will be one of 14 teams taking part in the fall event
RUSTON – After a week off, the Louisiana Tech Golf team is back in action this weekend to take part in the Steelwood Collegiate hosted by the University of South Alabama.
EVENT INFORMATION
Dates: Saturday – Sunday, Oct. 26-27
Location: Steelwood Golf Club (Loxley, Ala.)

Stroke Play: 3 rounds/54 holes (36 holes Saturday, 16 holes Sunday)
Yardage: Par 72 | 7,096 yards
Participants: 14 teams/78 players
ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH
LA Tech is coming off a ninth-place finish at the Trinity Forest Golf Club, highlighted by sophomore Niilo Maki-Petaja registering his second straight top-10 finish with a tie for eighth on the player leaderboard. He enters the Steelwood Collegiate ranked 97th in the country as an individual.
The Finland native, who has been the top Bulldog in all three fall events so far, has a team-best scoring average of 69.56, having shot at or under par in seven of his nine rounds. Behind him is sophomore Jake Plumb and freshman Morton Bailey both with a scoring average of 72.56.
Bailey was the second-best finisher at the Trinity Forest Invitational, tying for 37th which included two rounds of one-under. Plumb was right behind him in 43rd, capping off the event with a 70 in the final round.
Freshman Freddie Surgey and sophomore Oskari Schuvalow will round on the Bulldogs lineup for this weekend. Surgey has a scoring average of 73.44 while Schuvalow is at 75.11. Playing as an individual will be Grant Smith whose lone action this fall came in the season opener at the Argent Financial Classic.
