Bulldogs will be one of 21 teams competing in Maui Nov. 2-4
RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech Golf team will wrap up the fall portion of its season this weekend as the Bulldogs compete in the 2024 Ka'anapali Classic on the island of Maui. LA Tech is one of 21 teams participating in the event, a field that includes two top-5 nationally ranked programs.
EVENT INFORMATION
Dates: Saturday – Monday, Nov. 2-4
Tee Times: 1:30 p.m. shotgun each day
Location: Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course (Lahaina, Hawaii)
Stroke Play: 3 rounds/54 holes (18 holes each day)
Yardage: Par 71 | 6,700 yards
Participants: 21 teams | 122 players

LA Tech is coming off an 11th-place finish at the Steelwood Collegiate after shooting 290-286-293=869 (+5) for the event, collecting wins over East Carolina and Virginia Tech.
Despite having his worst round of the season on the final day, Niilo Maki-Petaja still registered his fourth top-20 finish of the season, tying for 18th after shooting 68-68-77=213 (-3). The sophomore, which is ranked No. 124 in the country, is shooting 25 under par for the season with a scoring average of 69.92.
Jake Plumb nearly snuck into the top 20, finishing in a tie for 28th after climbing 10 spots in round three after shooting a season-best 69 (-3). It was a round that included a career-high nine birdies, tied for the most by a Bulldog in the last three seasons. The sophomore is second on the team in scoring average this season at 72.33.
Also in the lineup for a fifth event are the freshman duo of Morton Bailey and Freddie Surgey. The two have combined for nine rounds at or under par with Bailey having a scoring average of 73.33 and Surgey, who tied his season low round of 69 (-3) in round two of the Steelwood Collegiate, at 74.08.
The fifth Bulldog competing at the Ka'anapali Classic will be Oskari Schuvalow. The sophomore transfer has a scoring average of 74.92 and is coming off a round of 72 (E) on the final day of the Steelwood Collegiate.
