RUSTON – After helping Louisiana Tech go undefeated at the Gulf Coast Showcase, Louisiana Tech's
Daniel Batcho was voted Conference USA Player of the Week as announced by the league office Monday.
Â
The power forward averaged 17.5 points while shooting 60 percent from the field for the Bulldogs who played four games in six days this past week. He also averaged 5.8 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per contest.
Â
The Paris, France native played an important role in helping LA Tech come back from at least eight points down in the second half in all three games to go a perfect 3-0 at the multi-team event. He scored 16 points, including the last five to force overtime, to go along with nine boards and four blocks in the 85-79 win over Southern Illinois in the GCS opener.
Â
He also had a team-high 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting as LA Tech defeated Eastern Kentucky in the third and final game of the Gulf Coast Showcase.
Â
Batcho then capped off the week by recording a game-high 22 points as well as a season-high six blocks in the home game versus Southern.
Â
The redshirt senior is currently averaging 20.1 points per game, which ranks second in CUSA and 27th in the country. He also ranks fourth in the nation in field goal percentage (73.7) and 11th in blocks per game (2.63).
Â
This is the second time this season Batcho has earned CUSA Player of the Week honors.
Â
LA Tech has two road games coming up this week, starting with a matchup against No. 16-ranked Memphis on Wednesday, Dec. 4. The Bulldogs will also play rival UL-Lafayette on Sunday, Dec. 8.
