MOBILE, Ala. – The Louisiana Tech Golf team sits in fifth place among the 14-team field at the conclusion of day one Monday at the Hal Williams Collegiate.

LA Tech finished round one in ninth after shooting 284 (+2), but the Bulldogs made a strong push in round two to climb four spots. Due to an hour weather delay to start the event, the 'Dogs still have 2-3 holes to go in round two as darkness stopped play.

The Bulldogs stood atop the leaderboard after the early holes, which included an eagle by
Niilo Maki-Petaja on his second hole of the day at the Par 4 No. 11. However, the team would gradually fall back as the weather conditions got tougher.
Â
Hunter Battles would finish the first 18 holes as the top Bulldog, shooting 70 (-1), followed by Maki-Petaja who secured his fourth straight round at or under par with a 71 (E).
Â
Lake Juban was the third score used for LA Tech, carding a 72 (+1). The fourth score came from
Thomas Henson, making his first start of the 2023-24 season after recovering from injury, with a 73 (+2).Â
Â
Through 15-16 holes of round two, the Bulldogs are at -3 as a team, led by Henson who is at -2 and Maki-Petaja at -1 while Juban and JT Stephens are Even.
