RUSTON – Louisiana Tech's Tonie-Ann Forbes was named Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Female Freshman of the Week, announced by the league on Tuesday.
The Kingston, Jamaica native had three record-breaking times in the 60-meter hurdles at the Tyson Invitational.
Forbes started the day with an 8.22 to finish second during the qualifying rounds, giving her the top spot in LA Tech history. She would return for the prelims and lower her time to 8.16 to finish sixth and qualify for the finals against some of the best in the country.
In the finals, she would improve her time yet again to 8.15 and set the program record for the third time in one day. Forbes would finish fourth in the highly competitive field.
The freshman has four of the top eight times in school history through three meets.
