Bulldogs Fall to Wildcats

LA Tech drops the road match, 4-0, to K-State

Box Score MANHATTAN, Kan. – Louisiana Tech had its four-match winning streak snapped on Friday afternoon, falling 4-0 to Kansas State at Mike Goss Stadium.

LA Tech (14-7) got down early in all three doubles matches, which allowed K-State (11-10) to take the opening point.  The Wildcats then secured the home win with straight-set victories on courts one, three, and four.

One of those doubles teams that got down early was Alexia Romero and Zoie Epps who dropped the first three games.  However, the new tandem won six of the next seven games to take the match, 6-4, on court three.

The duos of Olga Bienzobas/Ana Rodrigues and Tiffani Nash/Valentina Vasquez were attempting to do something similar, but the Wildcats were able to pull out victories on both courts to take the early lead.

K-State jumped out early in singles as well, taking the first set on five of the six courts.  The one set won by the Bulldogs was at the No. 5 position where Epps prevailed in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (2), against Maria Santos.

Meanwhile at the No. 6 spot, Romero overcame a slow start, falling 1-6 in the first set before battling back to take set two, 6-2.  And at No. 2, Rodrigues was down a set, but up 4-3 in the second.

As LA Tech was trying to complete a comeback, K-State managed to secure the team win by winning 6-3, 6-3 on court one, 6-1, 6-0 on court three, and 6-2, 6-3 on court four.
