RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech Softball team returns home to close out its non-conference slate by hosting McNeese at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Dr. Billy Bundrick Field.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (29-18, 12-9 CUSA)
Louisiana Tech is 29-18 this season and coming off a 2-1 series win at New Mexico State to move into a tie for third place with the Aggies in the CUSA standings. The Bulldogs took games one and two by the scores of 11-7 and 5-4 before falling in the finale 6-0.
Freshman Mattison Buster was phenomenal last week with a 1.50 ERA and four strikeouts in 9.1 innings pitched while helping the Bulldogs earn a series win at New Mexico State. She earned her second career save in a series-clinching victory at New Mexico State on Saturday. The Sulphur Springs, Texas, product yielded just two hits and one run with a strikeout in three innings of work.
Nicole Hammoude leads LA Tech with 30 RBI and is tied with Kylie Neel for the team lead in home runs this season with five.
Senior catcher Brooke Diaz batted .500 last week with six hits, four RBI, two doubles and two walks while helping Louisiana Tech earn a series victory at New Mexico State. She recorded a hit in each of the Bulldogs' four games while increasing her reached-base streak to five games.
Center fielder Alexis Gilio leads LA Tech with a .359 batting average (Min. 100 at-bats) and 52 hits, 18 RBI, 29 Runs scored, 19 walks and a team-leading 13 stolen bases. Defensively Gilio has committed two errors in 85 chances. Gilio has robbed two home runs this season (at Jax State, at Ole Miss).
Opponents are hitting .262 against the Bulldogs' pitching staff in 2024. LA Tech holds a team ERA of 2.92 and a 1.31 WHIP in 318.1 innings pitched this season. In the last two seasons, the Bulldog pitchers have held opponents to two or less runs in 50 of their 102 games.
Allie Floyd leads LA Tech in innings pitched (126.0) and strikeouts (72) this season while owning a 2.78 ERA. She has a 13-6 record and five saves this season. Floyd has held opponents to a .244 batting average in 2024.
Brook Melnychuk is 10-7 this season with a 3.00 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts. Opposing hitters are batting .247 against her.
Floyd and Melnychuk are the first LA Tech duo to record 10+ wins in a season since Krystal De La Cruz (17-3) and Preslee Gallaway (19-10) accomplished the feat in 2019.
LA Tech is 15-1 when homering this season and 19-3 when outhitting opponents.
The Bulldogs reached the 1,300-win mark earlier this season, becoming the 39th DI program (DI and AIAW included) to accomplish the feat.
LA Tech is led by head coach Josh Taylor, who is 100-62 in three seasons at Tech and 333-230 in his career, with prior stops at Nevada (2017-2021) and Feather River College (2009-2012). Taylor won his 100th game at LA Tech on Saturday with a 5-4 win at New Mexico State. He was the second-fastest LA Tech head coach to reach the 100-win mark, trailing only NFCA Hall of Famer Bill Galloway, who accomplished the feat in 132 games.
ABOUT McNEESE (35-17, 19-2 SOUTHLAND)
McNeese is 35-17 this season and 19-2 in league play. The Cowgirls are coming off a 2-1 series win at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. McNeese took the series opener and finale by the scores of 1-0 (8 inn.) and 3-1 while dropping game two, 2-1.
The Cowgirls are batting .279 as a team with 364 hits, 32 home runs, 217 RBI, and 244 runs scored.
Sophomore shortstop Corine Poncho has been a standout during her two seasons in Lake Charles. Poncho is batting .303 with 44 hits, 15 home runs and 33 RBI.
Alexis Dibbley leads the Cowgirls with a .344 batting average, collecting 44 hits, 11 doubles, three triples, five home runs, 19 RBI, and 24 runs scored. Samantha Mundine leads McNeese with 52 hits. The freshman is batting .327 with 28 RBI.
McNeese owns a 2.33 team ERA. Shaelyn Sanders is their ace with a 1.76 ERA and 132 strikeouts in 170.2 innings pitched. Ryann Schexnayder also plays a significant role in the rotation. The sophomore is 6-2 with a 2.46 ERA in 59.2 innings pitched.
James Landreneau is in his eighth season as the Cowgirls' head coach, and his record is 293-158. He was an assistant for four seasons at McNeese before assuming the head coaching position.
SERIES HISTORY
The Bulldogs and Cowgirls will meet for the 91st time on Tuesday and the third time this season. LA Tech leads the all-time series 59-31 and won the first two meetings this season. Tech took the first game 8-0 (6 inn.), courtesy of a seven-run sixth inning and a complete game shutout from Allie Floyd at the Purple and Gold Challenge (March 3). Two days later, the Bulldogs defeated the Cowgirls 3-1 in Lake Charles. Nicole Hammoude hit a solo home run in the win.
