Bulldogs Secure Victory in Walk-Off Fashion

LA Tech scores two runs in the bottom of the ninth to defeat Little Rock, 7-6

RUSTON, La. - A walk-off RBI single from Adarius Myers lifted Louisiana Tech to a 7-6 victory over Little Rock on Tuesday night at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park. LA Tech (23-8) secured the victory over Little Rock (15-14) after scoring two clutch runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

LA Tech got on the scoreboard first, picking up two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Ethan Bates (3-for-3, 2 RBI, 2B, 2 BB) put the Bulldogs ahead after he doubled to center field, allowing Kasten Furr to score and earning Bates an RBI, one of two RBI on the night. Myers followed up with another double, sending Bates home and putting LA Tech's lead at 2-0 early.

In the second inning, Little Rock forced Connor Nation into a bases-loaded jam, which brought on Jacob Havern to come in for a pitching change. Havern was lights out on the mound, giving up one run while striking out four batters and allowing just one walk. After cutting the LA Tech's lead to one, Little Rock scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning after Alex Seguine placed a ball down the left field line, earning him a double while driving in two runs for the Trojans to make it a 3-2 game. Later, Seguine scored on a passed ball from Caden Copeland, extending the lead 4-2 for Little Rock.

However, the Bulldogs fought back in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game up. Senior Jorge Corona came up with a huge RBI single to the right side of the field, allowing Furr to cross home and make it a one-run game. After Myers reached on an error from Little Rock's shortstop, Cole McConnell scored, tying the ball game at 4-4.

Meanwhile, in the bottom of the sixth, LA Tech was looking to pull back in front and did so after Furr secured an RBI after grounding out to second base, letting Will Safford score on the play. Later in the ninth inning, the Trojans, with late-game dramatics, forced in two runs with two outs off Ethan Bates. Little Rock earned a two-RBI double from Ty Rhoades to left center. However, in the bottom half of the frame LA Tech took the win in walk-off fashion, thanks to a Bates RBI single that tied it and Myers hitting a ball that bounced right over the third basemen's head, driving home Thaxton Berch for the victory.

QUOTABLES
Head Coach Lane Burroughs
" I thought the turning point of the game was pitcher Jacob Havern. He came in the second inning bases-loaded, nobody out, and gave up one run. I thought Havern limited them to one run, base-loaded, and nobody out was huge. I thought he and Bordersen were outstanding. We haven't had to win a game where Bates hasn't gotten it done, so I am proud of our guys for finding a way to get it done."
