MONROE, La. - Power hitting lifted Louisiana Tech over ULM on Tuesday night at Lou St. Amant Field. Louisiana Tech (34-13) picked up an 8-4 win over ULM, sweeping their I-20 foe this season.Â
Offensively, LA Tech started hot and stayed hot for the game, picking up 14 hits Tuesday night. Lead-off hitter Dalton Davis opened the game with a solo home run to put Tech up. Davis's lead-off homer was the first since Davis did it last year against UTSA on May 23, 2023. In the second inning, Will Safford earned two RBIs after he doubled the right-field line, scoring Kasten Furr and Grant Comeaux. Tech kept pouring in runs as Michael Ballard picked two RBI following his single down into left field, extending Tech's lead to 5-0 in the top of the third inning.
Later, in the fourth inning, Cole McConnell (2-for-3, RBI, HR) launched his 14th homer this season over the left field wall, hitting the scoreboard and making it a 6-0 game. Grant Comeaux and Dalton Davis both picked up RBIs in the fifth inning after a Comeaux RBI groundout scored Adarius Myers and a Davis RBI single scored Safford, putting Tech at 8-0 lead. Tech pitchers Connor Nation (3-0), Nate Crider, and Jacob Havern combined for 4.0 innings of work, allowed three hits and managed to keep ULM scoreless for five frames.Â
Eventually, ULM jumped on the scoreboard when Matt Abshire sent one over the fence, putting the game at 8-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Warhawks fought back in the sixth inning while scoring two runs after an RBI single and fielder's choice. ULM got on the board after a Michelle Artzberger home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, making it an 8-4 game and the final score.Â
