A Multiple Home Run Day Lifts Tech Past WKU

LA Tech defeated WKU 12-2 on Saturday

RUSTON, La. -Heavy hitting powers Louisiana Tech over Western Kentucky for a series win. Louisiana Tech (37-15, 14-6 CUSA) picked up a 12-2 victory over Western Kentucky (32-18, 13-7 CUSA) on Saturday afternoon at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park. 

WKU started the attack early with a two-run lead following the first two innings, but Tech got hot in the third inning. After a sacrifice bunt from Will Safford, who scored Grant Comeaux, reducing WKU's lead to 2-1. Next, Dalton Davis (2-for-3, 3 RBI, 2 HR) lifted Tech into the lead following his two-run home run to left field. Davis has homered six times in the last four games. Cole McConnell(1-for-3, 2 RBI, HR, BB) followed up with a home run in his at-bat, putting Tech up 5-2 in the third inning. Later in the bottom of the fourth inning, Adarius Myers, Kasten Furr, and Davis Dalton all knocked in home runs, putting the lead at 9-2. Following in the fifth inning, Tech earned three runs after Will Safford (1-for-2, 2 RBI, 2B) sent a ball to center field, earning him a two-RBI double, then McConnell secured Tech an RBI walk while bases were loaded, putting the game at 12-2. Tech pitcher Luke Nichols (4-2) went 7.0 innings on the day, giving up two runs with five hits and five strikeouts on Saturday. Nichols had his longest outing this season on the mound. 

UP NEXT 
Louisiana Tech will look for the series sweep of Western Kentucky on Sunday. The first pitch for Sunday's contest has been moved to 10 AM due to potential weather in the area.
