RUSTON – Louisiana Tech's Niilo Maki-Petaja tees off Monday morning as an individual to begin the 2024 NCAA Regional at the University Club in Baton Rouge.

ABOUT NIILO MAKI-PETAJA
For a third consecutive year, LA Tech has a Bulldog competing in the NCAA Regionals. This season it is Niilo Maki-Petaja who is currently ranked No. 209 in the country after having a stellar spring that included four top-5 finishes.

The freshman registered a team-high stroke average of 72.15 (70.8 adjusted) with 19 rounds at or under par. The native of Finland recorded six top-20 finishes during his freshman campaign.

He tied for fourth at the Sea Best Invitational and Louisiana Classics before registering his first collegiate win at the Aggie Invitational when he sank a 35-foot putt on the final hole to take the title. Most recently, he placed third as an individual at the Conference USA Championship in Texarkana, Arkansas.
