RUSTON, La. - Multiple home runs from DBU cost Louisiana Tech the Conference CUSA Championship. Louisiana Tech (45-17) fell to DBU (44-13) in the championship final on Sunday afternoon.Â
DBU started hot and stayed after a nine-run first inning, followed by a nine RBI inning to put Tech in an unusual position. The Patriots managed to get back-to-back home runs off the Bulldogs. Later in the inning, Corona got Louisiana Tech on the board following a RBI single to left field. In the second inning, Tech earned a pair of RBI from Cole McConnell, Ethan Bates, and Jorge Corona to make it a 10-5 game. Later DBU in the third inning blasted three straight back-to-back-to-back home run putting the game 13-5. Tech still managed to fight back with another set of RBI from Logan McLeod and Cole McConnell to cut DBU's lead to 13-7. Another home run for DBU and an RBI from Grant Comeaux in the fourth inning had the game 15-8. Following another pair of RBI singles for both teams would result in a 17-10 score.Â
