RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech volleyball team fell to Liberty in straight sets (25-15, 25-20, 25-15) on Saturday afternoon inside the Thomas Assembly Center.
Â
The match started the same way the previous one ended, with the teams trading points in an early battle. With Tech (6-9, 0-2) down 6-5, Liberty (8-6, 2-0) used a 6-1 run to gain control of the opening set. The Bulldogs continued to fight and pulled within one after an ace by
Grace Krohn. However, the Lady Flames finished the first set scoring six of the final seven points.
Â
Twelve Bulldog errors in set two helped the Lady Flames to a nine-point lead. Tech would give up and fought off five set points, forcing Liberty to call a timeout. The Lady Flames would take the next point to end the Bulldog run.
Â
Tech carried that momentum into the third set and found themselves in another back-and-forth affair. After a
Jailen Hurley kill to tie the set at six apiece, LU used a four-point run to take an advantage. The Bulldogs would continue to put the pressure on, but a final 6-0 run by the Lady Flames put the match away.
Â
Hurley and
Giulia Bonifacio led Tech with six kills each. Bonifacio also led the team with eight digs, while
Grace Luevanos finished with seven.
Â
Kate Gammer led Liberty with 15 kills and Kamryn Bacus with 11.
Â

- Bonifacio led the team in kills for the seventh time this season, and Hurley led the team in four matches, all within the past eight.
