RUSTON – Louisiana Tech dropped a 3-0 decision (25-11, 25-11, 25-19) to WKU on Saturday afternoon inside the Thomas Assembly Center.
Â
LA Tech (7-13, 0-6 CUSA) was unable to carry over momentum from its competitive third last night against WKU (15-4, 6-0 CUSA) as the Hilltoppers prevailed in three sets again.
Â
The Hilltoppers were strong offensively throughout the match, hitting over .500 in each set while limiting the Bulldogs to a .078 attack percentage. WKU controlled the first two sets with lengthy scoring runs – using a 10-2 surge in the opener and a 9-1 run midway through the second to take command early.
Â
LA showed resilience in the third set, closing to within 20-16 after a pair of kills from
Giulia Bonifacio to go along with a service ace from
Charlize Williams, but WKU held on to secure the sweep.
Â
Jailen Hurley topped out with seven kills for the Bulldogs followed by five from
Grace Luevanos. Setters
Sydnee Carter and
Grace Krohn each tallied 10 assists while libero
Riley Steubing anchored the back row with 10 digs.

On the match…
"I was disappointed. I thought we would come out with more fire with how well we played last night in the third. I was hoping that was an appetizer. WKU is good. They know what they are doing. They are athletic, big, and they make plays and are super consistent with what they do. We need to embrace that when we play somebody good, it is an opportunity for us to get better. I do not think we played our game plan as well as we played last night."
Â
On drawing comparisons to the third set…
"It was similar, but I thought last night's fight was a little bit better from the start. We did take advantage of WKU cruising a little bit to make it more respectable on the scoreboard. But it was just not the same level of fight. That is part of building a program and a certain mentality."
