Bulldogs Drop Road Finale To Panthers In Miami

Freshman Reagan Roberts provided offensive pressure with four of her six shots on target on Sunday.

MIAMI, Fla. – Louisiana Tech (4-12-1, 3-4-0 CUSA) closed out the road slate of the 2025 regular season Sunday afternoon, falling 1-0 to the FIU Panthers (7-5-3, 4-3-0 CUSA) at Leyva Family Field at FIU Soccer Stadium in Miami.

The Bulldogs provided offensive pressure throughout the entirety of the match, taking double-digit shot attempts for the first time on the road this season with 11 total on the afternoon.

Shots were exchanged by both sides before FIU found the back of the net late in the 23rd minute for the lone score of the match.

Tech added pressure in the second half with six shots to follow up their five from the first 45 minutes, with Reagan Roberts attempting three of those attempts from distance in a strong effort to put the Bulldogs on the board. However, the FIU keeper was able to withstand Tech's attack with eight saves.

Roberts' six shots and four on goal set new career highs for the freshman and mark the most shots and shots on goal taken by a Bulldog this season. Defenders Mary Helen Burford, Madison Pensom and Alexe Drolet all saw the pitch for the full 90.

Drolet has played full time in 12 of her last 13 starts, while Buford has done so in nine of her last 10 starts. Pensom has seen full time in the last seven matches.

The Bulldogs close out the regular season at home, facing the Delaware Blue Hens for Senior Day on Sunday, October 26 at The Mack. First touch is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT.

Head Coach Steve Voltz following Sunday's contest:
"It was obvious that we've been on the road for about a week and a half, but I thought we found our legs a little bit in the second half. We created chances and we competed—it's another 1-0 loss in conference play, and that's just frustrating but we feel like we're in each of these games. After this performance in another close loss, we're ready to go home and get ourselves ready for the Conference USA Tournament with another good performance next Sunday. We want to go into the tournament on our front foot and send our seniors out the right way on Senior Day against Delaware."
